I recently acquired a Dell P1913 for a secondary portrait display. I like it without a doubt, but it has a VERY dim glow that isn't even noticeable from across a pitch dark room, and even the light from my mouse brightens the room enough to snuff it out. Only when you're straight on at about 5' away does it become apparent. Either my Google Fu is weak or I don't know the terms to use to find if other people have this happen. I don't really have an issue with it, so much as I'm curious.

I was thinking it's static buildup like in old tube TVs, but it seems to me the backlight is very dimly lit, as it does not go away unless the monitor is unplugged.

Any discussion is appreciated :)

The lighting that does that. stay like that forever. I mean have you sat in a trance to check to see if it truly goes out?

If it goes out after a while then its the LED. I have seen in the past some energizd after glow happen because of residual latent energy is around.

Kinda like how you can take a tube under a high power wire and the tube will glow in your hands.

Also depends where you live.

I know of a few homes where my friends live in Texas (HEB district) and the homes are near high power lines.
This video below is a good example of that glow. So do you live near some high power lines?

Nah, not that I know of. Maybe if it is plugged into a battery backup? It's coming through the power outlet for sure, because when I unplug it the light goes away after about a minute or so. Cool video by the way!
