Strange automobile animal encounter stories?

Moose vs. pickup truck

I had been driving on the Alaskan Highway in mid December for over 12 hours. It was a dark night and the skies were illuminated with bursts of colors and light by the northern lights. It was below zero Fahrenheit and I was driving a Toyota pickup with studded snow tires on solid ice.

I rounded a turn as I was approaching Fort Nelson, British Columbia to see a cow moose standing in the middle of the roadway. If I hit the moose it would come over the hood and likely hit me. If I applied the brakes I?d plow into a snow bank. I chose the snow bank, which offered a soft cushioned landing. The moose had tried to run which caused her to slip on the ice. She was mad.

She got up, walked over to the pickup, leaned against the bed of the truck and kept slamming her head into the driver?s window. I moved to the passenger seat. After thirty minutes, she got bored and left. Somebody came by and gave me a hand pushing the truck out of the snow bank. I warned them to watch out for an angry moose.

Suicidal pheasant vs. car

I?m driving on flat land on an Indian reservation. In the distance I see a beautiful huge pheasant standing alongside the road. The pheasant ran out directly in front of the car as I reached it taking its own life. I got out of my car and thought about taking the bird and dressing it out. Then I realized that I?d probably get busted for poaching and went on my way. What the hell was that bird thinking?

Does anyone else have some strange animal encounter stories with automobiles?

During the spring, we have millions of little frogs that come out onto the roads during and after nighttime showers. The popping sound they make as you drive through them is fun... if a bit disgusting.

Mine's not really strange.

The day I bought my first new car I picked it up at the dealer and headed home to pick up my wife for dinner. I pulled in to the driveway and when I stepped out of the car, PHEW! I had run over a skunk and the car stunk horribly (from the outside). She didn't want to come near it and it took 15 minutes to convince her it didn't stink when you were inside.

At the time I was pumped to show it to some friends but no one wanted to be around it until the smell faded.
