Sheriff's Department warns parents about attempted kidnapping near park

JEFFERSON COUNTY - Deputies are looking for the two people who drove up alongside three young girls Monday afternoon and tried to get them into the car.

It happened a few blocks from the intersection South Simms Street and West Belleview Avenue.

The girls, ages 6, 6, and 9, said a woman driving a white four-door sedan pulled up along side of them and said, "come to my house to play, I have lots of toys." The girls said there was a baby in the back of the car who was crying. They said the woman was holding some duct tape.

The girls said there was also a man in the passenger seat of the car who was talking on a walkie-talkie radio. They said he seemed to be communicating with a gold or tan SUV that pulled up behind the car.

An 8-year-old boy down the street saw what was happening and got the girls to run away, the sheriff's department said.

Deputies are looking for the white car, which has tinted windows, a red interior and a zebra steering wheel. They are also keeping a lookout for the SUV, although they only have a very vague description.

The woman in the car was Asian. She had long black hair with blonde highlights and several tattoos on her arms. The man was also Asian, with short black hair and a medium sized tattoo on his right arm.

Asian child slavery ring?

Seriously, it's a good thing they were smart enough to run away.

That little boy was a hero... not only being raised with the knowledge of proper action in that situation, but to also being raised with the courage to get involved.

HURRAY for that boy and his parents.

:)

I love how these news stories have sites that don't indicate the state they are in.

it's probably because it's local news.
on the web = global. They should put their state SOMEWHERE on the page. I only bring this up because it's not the first time.

Ditto. I also hope they catch the people involved and beat them within an inch of their lives.

A quick look at the site shows that it's Colorado.
