Hi,
Question is this:
Which ide channels should my main and 2nd/3rd drives be on, and CDRW for best performance?
I'm setting my new rig up for video editing and regular home use. I'm NOT running a raid setup. My 30G drive will be my main drive with o/s and programs. My 80G and 120G drives will be for video storage. I may even get removable hard drive trays for additional hard drives so I can archive video on hard drives. But, for now, that's down the road. All drives are ATA100 except the new WD 120G SE which can go 133. Would I be better off (make things faster) by getting a new main drive that can support ATA 133? What if I got a new WD Se w/8mb buffer like my 120G and put them on the same channel? Would that make things noticably faster, or imperceptibly faster? Should my main drive go at the end of the cable? Here are my PCs specs:
P4 2.53Ghz 533 fsb
Epox 4G4A+
1024 mb PC2700 Samsung ram
Leadtek GF 4 Ti4200 w/128mb ram
Phillips Seismic Edge S/C
Hard Drives: 30G Maxtor 7200 rpm (main), 80G WD 7200 (video), 120G WD SE 7200 (video), TDK 12/10/32 CDRW
3.5" floppy (samsung or sony (don't remember)
Win Modem
Firewire card
Win XP Home
Thanks for your suggestions.
