Thats surprising, and wonder what that means for att's mvno program as a whole, and whether or not airvoice and others will be affected...

Perhaps its that Straight Talk is too disruptive to att's general business since they are very well known, and cheaper than any other att based mvno for unlimited.

A few months ago there were wide spread data outages for any att based mvno... I believe they got it fixed...

Me personally I'm using Platinumtel and their pay as you go plan (which is now t-mobile based)... or if I have to I'll go back to page plus with my droid razr... but prefer the unlocked galaxy nexus due to stock Jellybean.

Straight Talk is the cheapest ATT MVNO for data and also offers the most.

This is most likely an ATT raised their wholesale pricing and ST didn't want to pay it issue.
Other MVNOs will accept the new pricing if they have to. It probably won't affect them as much since their rates are higher anyway.

Well I bought an att sim a while ago and haven't activated it. Are they going to continue service and it's just the actual sims that will no longer be sold?

Looks like just the ATT simcard. If you have one service will continue.

I bought mine about 4 weeks ago. Thank goodness I did. Nobody uses t mobile here because the service is bad. The other big 3 are fine.

Isn't StraightTalk also very strict with their data usage? I hear all kinds of horror stories about people getting canceled for using too much unlimited data. For myself I would be using an iPhone and I surf regularly and sometimes watch videos or netflix while on a trip. In their TOS they specifically state you cannot use their network for videos. That's why I've never went with them. I think I might do the T-Mobile $30 month 100 minutes, unlimited text and 5GB data.

Yes, streaming is a no with them if you are using the ATT SIM. The T-mobile SIM has much higher data limits. They also do not shut off service anymore, they throttle. I've been throttled 2x so far. I e-mailed customer service and they unthrottled me in 1-2 days both times. Still annoying since they don't announce the limits. I don't think I used an unreasonable amount of data either of those times either.

I would consider using T-mobile, but I would really like it if they had lower frequency bands for better building penetration. If you need more minutes than the $30 plan, you can try

It is a prepaid brand launched by t-mobile themselves.

You mean StraightTalk throttled you or T-Mobile? I hardly ever talk on the phone. I'm more of a text guy so the paltry 100 minutes doesn't hurt. Besides these SIMs aren't nano and IIRC have to cut them down for iPhone 5.

Straight Talk with their ATT SIM (they sell service that runs on ATT or T-mobile, you can pick which you want).

Got a text from Net10 about this, and I assume the same applies to Straight Talk plans... Now we know why these (temporarily) disappeared. They're coming back, but Net10's AT&T sim plans will be hard capped at 1.5gb of data while T-Mobile sims will remain "unlimited". So, the SIM cards will be back on shelves soon but will no longer carry the "unlimited" branding. Even if you have one already, the switch to 1.5gb/month will take effect on March 1.

https://net10data.com/

For the time being, they're offering a free T-mobile compatible SIM for free if you want to switch to that from their AT&T plans.

Will be interesting to see if ST ends the "unlimited". I never come close to 1.5GB since I go wifi at home and at work.
