strage windows problem...im lost

today my system started doing very strage things...At start up its fine but when i open windows explorer or internet explorer or some other app... the mouse pointer turns into a hour glass every 6 seconds...keeps doing it even when i close everything down...if i play a game "counter strike" i get the hour glass in my cross hairs...WONT GO AWAY...
I tried reformating, new ram , removed nic cards...no help.... ANY IDEAS...thanks

prophet2 gts 64mb ddr
xgamer..dvd, cdrw..ps2 mouse and keyboard
 
try getting another set of drivers for your screencard... 5.23 / 5.22 for example.

And I get the mouse pointer on the screen when I boot from my pci screencard to enable dual monitoring.
