Story of the day...

I went out just about 10 min ago to do my laundry at the apartment club house and noticed some alarm going off at some other apartment.
I drove around to park near the club house and noticed smoke coming out of one of the apartments. Obviously the right thing to do is to call 911 and so I did that and got the fire department over here. I went up to the already open door where the smoke was coming out and asked if everybody was ok. The girl who was there said it was an oil accident while cooking and a bad one too. :(
The sprinkler system was pouring down constant wanter just showering everything. She start using her broom to push out the water and stuff, but I knew it wouldn't do much as more water just kept coming. The apartment management wasn't in their office when I went to check so there was no way to turn off the sprinkler system. All I could do was wait for the fire department to make it here and hopefully they can turn it off. The apartment was gated so I used my "clicker" to open the gates for them.
I feel bad that an accident like that just got her whole apartment soaked with water.
Story of the day for me, but a sad one. :(
No, i'm not going to go back and take some pics, that would be very rude. Plus it is just all water anyways.
And please watch out when you guys do your cooking!

Good thing we don't live there... my wife would have us soaked on a regular basis. I jokingly call the fire alarms the dinner bell :)

Overall, I'm ambivalent about this thread.
A not-so-compelling story with no twist but a useful lesson wrought from tragedy.
The deciding factor for this will be:
Was the girl hot? and did you get her number?

Ah yes I forgot ATOT asked these questions!
She was ok, but completely soaked and no I did not get her number. If I wanted to I can just go up to her apt instead of using the cellular system.
It was just your common cooking accident so no twists or anything spetacular except all the $ that is about to be spent cleaning up the aftermath.

God d@m1it!
It wasn't the ones where it becomes miraculously see-through when completely soaked!

Offer to give her a hand with the clean up

Then ask her to do it afterwards.

Just *might* work.

Well you did the right thing by checking out what the problem was and calling 911. Now if you have nothing better to do than ATOT help her clean up!!

so...were her headlights on?

No! And you couldn't see the bulbs through the T-Shirt.

Reply to lokiji: Nah I don't want to get soaked and clean up would not be worth the "doing it."

Reply to Jawo: Thanks, but I kinda don't want to help her or other roommates (who will come back later) clean up the place.
1) I'm lazy.
2) I'm multitasking at the moment with ATOT included.
I don't know what they do right after a sprinkly accident, but sounds/looks like they need to "remodel" the whole apt.

Yeah sometimes the sprinklers can be extremely counterproductive with grease fires, there needs to be something done with that.
