Story I heard from a Dr. I know.

One of his collegues had been working in Afghanistan. And as you now some areas are very low in hospital equipment. So in one of these villages a man has stomach pains and it turns out to be some malicious kind of tumor tissue, it's about the size of a football and has spread to the stomach and bowels. So for him to survive this need to be removed. Unfortunately, no anaesthetic is available, but instead they decide to use curare. If you don't know curare will paralyze your muscles while you're full awake. So this guy goes through an operation where he can't move a muscle and he can feel everything going on........a five hour operation.

Apperently he went completely mad afterwards.

If i get surgery, i have to be out cold. Poor guys in the less developed countries...

Actually I was eaten by it, but I had my paperknife with me and was able to cut my way out through the stomach and killing it in the process.

I think most versions of this story have it happening in America, but the docs somehow 'forget' to use anesthetic after the curare.

Actually I was eaten by it, but I had my paperknife with me and was able to cut my way out through the stomach and killing it in the process.

Did you remember to grab the chest full of diamonds that was in it's stomach that fueled the laser beams from the fishes eye? 😀
