Storm Cases

Anyone else try the plastic holster for the storm from Verizon. The local store said they did not sell them because of a bug, so I got one through my rep and sure enough I found out when you put the storm in it the audio profile gets switched to vibrate everytime even if you have the phone locked. Anyone else run into this? The leather pouch works fine I just liked the holster better because I am used to Sedio holsters so until they come out with one I guess I am stuck with the pouch.

Dude, Seidio is already shipping Storm holsters.

I've got an Innocase Holster for my Storm sitting here right now in my hot little hand.

Oh, and it's awesome!

For anybody else looking for a protective case/holster solution for the Storm, Seidio's Innocase with compatible Holster is just the slickest thing you will ever find

Are you sure this is a bug and not an option you can change somewhere? Getting a different holster won't change the bug at all if it IS a bug.

You should be able to change ring tones/alerts in holster on a Storm by selecting a different Sound Profile, modifying an existing Sound Profile or creating a custom Sound Profile from the Sounds icon. It is possible that your current profile is inadvertently set to "vibrate" while in holster for all alerts.

I dont see a single thing out there that mentions this. It sounds like you have the In Holster setting set to Vibrate under your profile.

It is not set anywhere in the phone, oh and thanks for the seido tip I looked when I got the phone and signed up to be notified and figured since I had not gotten an email nothing was out yet. I have went through every option on phone even when it is locked it changes to vibrate and if it was set to do this as an option when in holster, it would do it in the pouch as well since they both have the magnet for the blackberry to shut off the screen.

Did you check the right place? Did you go click the profile changer button, click 'advanced', pick the profile you're on, select 'phone' and see what your 'in holster' settings are? By default they're set to vibrate or vibrate+tone depending on the profile you're editing.

I have the innocase II and holster. Best I've found for the Storm.

Trust me I looked everywhere, I run the bes server as well as this being this being my 5th blackberry. I should have known when the store said they were not selling them due to bugs but they did not know what the bugs were.

Wow. Are you serious? This is NOT a bug, it is user error. Do the following:

Go to Profiles>Normal (or whatever you use the most)>hit BB key>Edit>Phone>Set In Holster setting to whatever ringtone you want.

This is CORE FUNCTIONALITY of a BlackBerry and has been for years. I would suggest you have just never put one in an official BB Holster with the proximity sensor before.

It is impossible for a case to have a 'bug'. Get OS .85 or above if you think you have bugs in the device. That revision is excellent and will take 30 mins to apply.

That's what I told him to do and he claimed he did it already.

I don't think they meant the CASES had bugs, but the profile software on the Storm has bugs when in the holster. I still think it's dumb that they're not selling cases because of a software problem though if there is one.
