Storing files on linux server and reading/writing from Windows?

I have a computer that I want to put linux on and use as a file server for storing all my files (MP3's, DVD ISO's, etc). I can't use FAT32 beecause some of these files are > 4GB.

I'm just curious to know how I copy a file over the network from my local windows machine and store it on the linux machine.

Is this what Samba is for?
