Current Rig: (home build)
AMD T-bird 1.33ghz (w sk6 and low volted panaflo 80mm)
512 ddr memory
AMD760 chipset
ASUS k7 Master
ATI Radeon 64ddr VIVO
Hitachi 7k250 120gb
IBM 60gxp 40gb
Plextor 16/10/40x
Toshiba 16x DVD
Viewsonic pf790
Klipsch 2.1 w/ Audigy 5.1

I don't game at all...I use exclusively windows based applications, but at the same time i output video to my 32" LCD tv; tv, videos, dvd, etc. Right now my radeon vivo is doing the trick, but I modded the gpu cooling to run fanless (my comp is dead silent) and i think it's starting to die. Which is fine, it's served me well over the last 5 years+ (besides, it's about time for an upgrade). I would like a card I can send signal at one res, and keep monitor at another. Cost is a factor, but considering im not looking for a gaming card, this should not be an issue.

Edit: *New suggestion*

For an HTPC I would at least want a graphics card. You don't need that fast of a processor.

Even if i plan to do no video editing or gaming?
This has TVout, tv tuner, pvr...that's all i really need.

As long as the integrated video does 2d, I'm happy :)

Video cards do affect video playback....

#1. You had a video card

#2. What about for HD videos?

This card is likely better than my current card.

What requirements do you recommend for watching HD video, dvds?

What card? You have no new card...you are going to integrated...

I would look into one of ATI's x1*** series cards.

Using the onboard video, the xpress 200 hits the same levels as many of the graphics card based computers here

Gaming is not the best, but that's something I will not be doing.

The xpress 200 has 333Mhz, 666Mpixels/s....my current card does 183Mhz, 366Mpixels/s

Integrated just means it's not its own card. It uses the system memory, but it still includes a lot of graphics technology.
I don't game whatsoever...video card for me is a waste, unless you can show how I NEED additional hardware.

The point is that, at a minimum, you want DVI and the higher instruction set. Even running sharpening w/ ffdshow the card plays a role in CPU usage, so there is a base minimum for HTPC applications. Also, I'd tend towards Intel over AMD for compatability, which is critical for HTPC apps. HT won't help in the types of apps you'll run.
