It was a long rant so I didn't quote it again here. But this rant really echoes my feelings from what I see with a lot of these hardware "review" sites. The link raises some questions about review methodology and validity of results. SR does not just attack the small sites as Tom's Hardware gets a good dose of criticism as well. Their points are very valid in my opinion. I've always felt SR goes out of the way to adhere to strict scientific methodology. I feel Anandtech is also very reliable in that aspect. Go read it and tell me what you think.

I think the Internet has really empowered anyone to be able to post their thoughts, but it's important to remember to take every review with a grain of salt, especially from the sites that just throw scientific method into the trashcan and write so called "reviews."

Wow you said AT is bad.

Prepare to get flame with all the loyalist zombies lurking.

Now where did I put my spare flame retardent suit?

That sounds good to me...what post did you read Finality? 😀 j/k

I especially like this part:

<< We?ve had several sites write in pointing out that they never claimed they were ?experts,? that we?re unfairly picking reviews apart. This simply doesn?t wash with us? here?s why. There is a fundamental precept, a ?reviewer-reader contract,? that implicitly governs all product reviews, whether in print or online. That is, a reviewer promises to readers that he has educated himself to the point where he can legitimately guide others in important purchasing decisions. This is a sacred principle in comparative journalism. Some sites, unfortunately, would rather shovel together a review for the sake of content, post it, and then later plead ignorance rather than be responsible in honoring this principle. If someone admits that he?s not considered an expert by even himself, then what is he doing publishing a review that could mislead hundreds or even thousands of trusting readers? What ever happened to integrity and pride? >>

All in all I think it was a well written rant that brought up some good points.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who agrees with SR on this matter. Finality must have read my post wrong. I'm very careful to NEVER criticize Anandtech. 😛

when it comes to hard drives and things like that, though, I don't trust the Anandtech reviewing. I go for Storage Review for that stuff, I trust them the most in that area.

however ANandtech has been GREAT for everything else I've ever really read, motherbaords, CPU's, Video cards, RAM, chipsets etc!
