storage decision ??

I am configuring a new HP laptop= Intel i7-1065G. I have a choice for storage of .....256 GB Intel SSD + 16 GB Intel Optane or 256 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD (both are same price). Which would you choose and why?

"Go for NVMe SSD. Optane is meant to boost HDD drives. You will not see any performance boost with the SSD + optane." ????????
Technical reasoning:
Optane just acts as a middleman, as in data is stored into the optane module before it's pushed into the SSD. Which is why it's only better for HDD. The speed of the optane is not any faster than the speed of the SSD already is. If the SSD was an HDD however, then you'd technically have an HDD with SSD speeds.

The 256GB + 16GB Optane is not a separate drive. It's a 256GB version of the Optane H10 with Solid State Storage. In the H10, Optane isn't just a "middleman". It does some funky asynchronous parallelism to boost sequential speeds to be some combination of the speed of the SSD and the speed of the integrated Optane chip.

Optane is faster than SSD, but what most people are saying is to get a huge boost Optane only makes sense being paired with HDD, since the 16GB size of Optane limits the boosts to cases when data is already there. Some people say some games are 50GB in size so 16GB cache is useless but that's not necessarily the case as they did some work so it doesn't indiscriminately cache every file/folder and the firmware/software has lists of whitelisted file types it caches.
