Stopping the pop up windows with IE6 in XP how can you stop all the windows opening by them selves.

Stay off those low budget websites !!!
90% of the web site are trying to sell crap and have popups

one way to kill pop ups is to just disable java and javascript.

in ie6 you can go to

tools > internet options
click 'security' tab
make sure you on the globe (i.e. internet zone)
click 'custom level'
scroll to the 'scripting' section (near the bottom)
click 'disable'/'enabled'/'prompt'
click okay and you are done 🙂

hope that helps somewhat

I use Pop-Up Stopper from panicware.com with XP Pro and it works just fine.

I've been using WebWasher 3.0, and it does more than block popups - it blocks ads. It's a helpful bandwidth saver, since it removes the need for your computer to download unnecessary graphics you'd probably ignore.

My vote goes to PopUp Killer. I also tried PopUp Stopper, but removed it withing 5 minutes (did not work as well).
