Stopping internet timeouts...

Hey guys. I have this problem where it seems as though anytime I'm downloading a large file for more than 10 minutes or most of the time just randomly throughout the day, my modem seems to time out or something. I have to unplug and replug the modem and let it reconfigure before everythings works again. Its almost as if there is some sort of bandwidth cap that that makes everything reset or something. I have Comcast with a motorola cable modem... any idea on what this is or how to stop it?
