Rather than cluttering the forum with whining an sniveling that would rival that of the most persistent 4 year old brat, cough up the tiny bit of money to support this forum.

'nuff said.

cheers. :D

Actually, the ad is misleading at best, but I'd call it a boldfaced lie. Subscription program or not, any publisher with half a conscience wouldn't want such a scam associated with their publication, and the fact that according to the thread in FI, Anand has already requested that the ad be removed from the rotation is good proof of that.

I'll subscribe as soon as I start getting paid to post.

We don't come to this forum because of the servers or the software, we come because of the other people on it, they're the real resource here. When they start getting paid to contribute, I'll start covering server costs.

Thanks for cluttering up the forum with a whining post arguing about whining posts. This was a lot better solution than to use the threads already available or PMs to the thread originators.

And I suppose the forum, servers and bandwidth just pop out of thin air for free?

Thankfully, not everyone has such a freeloading mentality. The machines, bandwidth, and overall maintanence do not just magically happen and if you are unable to understand that maybe you should ask you mom to explain it to you after she's done making your bed for you.

<---- tired of ungrateful people.

I had to turn off Zone Alarm Pro to see what the fuss was about. Use ad/banner/pop-up blocking software.

bwahahahah! I logged out to see what all the fuss was about and OMG it is soooo very annoying! The ad was at the top and bottom of the page!

Thank goodness I'm a subscriber. :D

That's probably what I see the most. Subscribers bitching about non-subscribers who bitch about the speed. Oh well, it wouldn't be OT if we didn't bitch about stuff.

I realize that....

1) That fact doesn't make the ad any less annoying

2) Anyone can run a forum server, in fact, many other people do, and without subsription charges.

3) It's still the people who make the forum. I'm sure anand and his staff have put plenty of time and money into the site, but so have many of the members here. I don't see them asking for a percentage of the money saved when they post hot deals, or a service charge when they tell you how to fix your machine....

i would but the goddamm credit card processor wont take my credit cards (despite the fact Im using the same one I used before to subscribe). First gets declined, second says "duplicate transaction" . since Neither I-bill support nor AT subscriber support will respond, I will keep on bitching about the banner, thank you.

I saw the ad. i disagree. it's not as bad as you people make it out to be.

this is true. however, try and run one with the same amount of traffic for free. then see how long it can maintain that.

because it's a community, thus the term "member" being given. you give some and you take. some just tend to take and unfortuanately, rhetoric, neffing, posting, trolling, etc... doesn't pay the bandwidth bills.

and I thought I was a cheap tight ass.

I show my full fledged support for Anandtech and it's great community by skipping ONE cup of coffee a month. Yes it's an enormous sacrifice but I'm willing to do so, so I can save the whopping $2.50 a month for subscriber status here.

It's worth every single freakin' penny.
