Stop Responding at Right Click in Vista Ultimate

Dear All,
When I right click in notepad or Windows Sidebar, the program stop responding and windows closes automatically. I'm using Vista Ultimate 32 bit. Any information is appreciated.

What are you right clicking with? Mouse or touchpad or pointing stick? Whatever it is probably has a bad driver and needs to be removed and reinstalled.

OK - remember, with a laptop you can also right click with the touchpad's right button. Since it is a mouse, it is external, and should be easy. Open Device Manager and REMOVE the HID (Human Interface Device, i./e., your mouse. Then remove it and reboot. After the laptop has booted, loaded, and settled down, hot plug the USB mouse and it should be found as new hard ware, etc., and the driver installed.

If it still does not work - then you have a defective mouse. Replace it. Since it causes a major malfunction, I feel it is a defective mouse.

If the touchpad works, right and left click buttons, then you know it is the mouse. An easy replacement.

If you have a spare USB mouse, try it and see.
