Raleigh, N.C. — Sen. Phil Berger is trying to rile up support for a state measure that would buck two key provisions of the federal Affordable Care Act.

"Please help me stop Obamacare in North Carolina," Berger writes on his campaign website. The note continues:

We already passed a bill in the Senate that protects us from:

The government turning our health records over to the IRS

Government-forced insurance

Billions in new taxes on businesses and the people of North Carolina

The form then invites people to sign a petition that would presumably be presented to opponents of Senate Bill 4.

And here's Phil Berger's response to criticism of his statements:

On the Senate floor Monday night, Berger, R-Rockingham, downplayed the comments.

"It is not surprising to me that some of those folks would react or overreact to any statements that are made that criticize Obamacare," he said.

He defended his claim about health records, saying that the definition of such a record is open for debate.

"Is information about whether or not you have health insurance that covers certain things, is that a health record? And if so, isn't that requiring that a health record be turned over?" he said.

Now if a user tried to post that assertion in the new P&N forum with that reasoning to back it up would that be allowed as a legitimate point of debate or disallowed for being fantasy based FUD?
