I must have 14 AIM windows open now. I hate when people you barely know see you online and feel obligated to have a mindless conversation with you about nothing at all. And of course I feel obligated to participate. 🙁
 
stop IMing them back, or how about telling the people IMing you to stop IMing you instead and take my advise and:

Take a big sign. Write "Please bug me" in neon letters. Let people know how to do this.
