Stop hard drive access in win2k

Hi, I have a server set up for my house which shares the dsl with ICS. I have lots of pm settings so that it uses relatively low power and makes less noise (one of them is "turn the hd off after 10 mins). However, it seems like just about every half hour, the HD spins up and then goes off again 10 mins later. First of all, do you think this is bad for the hd to be turned on and off so frequently AND have any ideas why it's doing this? (shouldn't it be able to just load everything it needs into ram at startup and then forget the hd?)

The system is: 450MHz K6-III on a Gigabyte GA-5AX 64MB pc100, some old maxtor 10GB

Thanks.

If you are doing any sever related stuff, you aint going to get very far with keeping the disk from spinning. Other then that, I wouldn't worry about the spin up's and down's.

As far as stopping it, make sure it's not a background program first. Then, if nothing's there, try shutting down possible culprits one at a time. If it's IIS, look for logging settings.. my best guess.
