"stop error" screen after restart

This morning I pressed the restart button without shutting it down properly and this is what message i got after in a blue screen with white text. im on a win xp pro os. :

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent dmaage t your computer.

If this is the first time youve seen this stop error screen, restart yor computer. if this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space, if a driver is identified int he stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturerfor driver updates. try changing video adapters.

check with your hardware vendor for any bios updates. disable bios memory option such as caching or shadowing. if you need to use safe mode to remove or disable componentes, restart your computer, press f8 to sleect advcned starup options and then select safe mode.

windows xp starts properly in safe mode, however i get the blue screen all the time in normal mode. is it my hardrive problem? or anyone know how i can fix this? thanks alot.

Boot from the Windows XP CD and choose the repair option. Run chkdsk /r.

When you get back into Windows, download and install all Microsoft critical updates.

I just ran it under C:/windows and it says it found some errors and fixed, however the same exact blue error screen appears... I can still log in Safe mode but I cant under normal mode. please help asap, thanx!
