Ok everyday I come on this forum some guy is like-
Hey I just got a 1700 dlt3c 0310 (or wutever) is this a good core, how much will it overclock?
STOP IT!!!
Just go find out by yourself how much your cpu is going to overclock, there is no guarenteed overclock, it is very random.

I agree...Also this is not just with the AMD crowd but the numerous p4 2.4c and 2.6c chips....."SL6WH or SL6WS" or "Malaysia or Costa Rica".....

Most of them can be solved with a quick search....

The overclockers.com database is highly inaccurate. The users there never seem to test for stability. My vote is for no stickies.

Relax already and leave the kiddies alone. Remember it isn't your forum and you have no right to say what is suitable for posting and what isn't. It is up to the mods to handle these things so leave it to them and move on to something more constructive like answering questions like Why does my 3200+ show up as only running at 1100mhz ? Me neither, when you buy a new CPU, you're naturally excited about what it can do, and since you can tell how good a CPU may be by it's stepping, it's a valid question.

Obviously when you've been a member of the forum for a long time you're going to come accross the same questions repeatedly, and obviously people who don't know that much about CPU's are going to ask this sort of question.

It always makes me laugh how people are so quick to forget they were once 'noobs' without much of a clue... and I wonder how they'd have felt if when they had asked this sort of question on CPU steppings, one of the forum veterans who should know better had posted saying they should watch what they ask, and come up with 'new' and 'original' questions. Not exactly a pleasant or helpful attitude now is it...?:beer:

Hey! Could you lighten up a bit? Maybe you hit your wall of tolerance with this often repeated question, but not me. I want to go ballistic on anyone asking if thermal compound is necessary or if it should be removed. GAAH! I hate to see those endless, repetitive questions. Stepping questions are at least one full staircase away from thermal compound removal/replacement questions. URRGHH~

Ok, let a noob weigh in on this one

I think its inevitable with forums this big theres going to be dumb schit that the more experienced members get sick of. I feel like a dumbass sometimes asking some of the simpler questions but if you don't want to answer then you don't have to.
But maybe there are ways to fight the volume. Maybe each forum should be split into two sections: advice and technical discussion. That way people who do need the advice have a specific place to look for previous answers to their questions and people who want to discuss things like the qualities of certain cores (after they have thoroughly oc'ed and evaluated them themselves) can have a lower traffic area to do so.
I don't know if it's too much to ask of the site admins but maybe they can come up with some further ways of partitioning the posts (like advice/discussion or other criteria) and making it easier to find threads on the topic you want to avoid reposting.
I can understand that its annoying to have a zillion posts to sort through all the time but I don't think that banning dumb questions is the solution. I know I've learned a he|| of alot since starting to read here so I'm thankful for people who take time to answer the easy questions. I hope that I can answer them myself someday.

San-Serif runs really fast in this thread and makes it so way easy to ignore!

Regarding this thread... I'm thinkin' many, as I, at one time was a boob watchin' the tube, became a noob, got clued and then got %%$@#'ed. No reason to go back to bein' a boob.

Thanking you SickBeast... sometimes we must spew that which we think, always best to smile while doing so. I also understand where touchmyichi was coming from... but hey... it's a community right? It's a 'social' experience? We answer the same questions and such in many of the categories here and in other forums. I've prayed to the silicon gods that some folks would just learn to use the search functionality... or read.
But then I remember... Once knowledge has been gained, it's difficult to truely remember what it was like not knowing.

So bring on the n00b's... send us your SNAFU's, your FUBAR's... we can handle it. We may be foul at times but no harm as long as we're having fun doing it.

As did I... suppose everyone is not me or you. To be certain there are many that post long before necessary and should maybe be wearing a 'sign' ... they go away or get a clue. Being a forum everyone get's their say, to a point, and there ya go. If I don't want to respond to the 738th request for 'what fan for zxy heatsink'... no big deal, no turf burns. Answer the question or don't.... just don't let it bother you if it got asked for the 1037th time. It's not my database that it's taking up space on. And props to those that provide the database. I am sure that I have asked simple questions that have been asked before. Trouble with search is you do not always find it, or are not sure if it applies to your hardware - etc. Besides if we were not allowed to repeat ourselves - the never ending ati - nvidia thread would die a sudden death. Then only amd - intel would be left and it is not near as entertaining.
