Hi everyone,

I'm getting this BSOD constantly and I can't figure out what's causing it. The stop error is, "0x000000d1 (0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)." I'm running Windows 2000 with SP4. The crashes are very random, i can't find a connection between them, but I find it occurs most frequently when I'm NOT doing cpu/RAM intensive stuff. I can play games for hours and not get this BSOD, but if I'm browsing sites (with fire fox) I will randomly get a BSOD.

I've tried looking online at microsoft's site and the only error close to mine was the DHCP Media Sense problem, which I used the workaround, but it didn't work.

Here are my hardware stats (all up to date on drivers)

Asus a7n8x 2.0
AMD 2500+
Corsair Valueram 512MB
WD 120GB 8mb
Pioneer 109
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
3com ethernet

I had a SB Audigy, but I pulled it out and continued to have these BSODs.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks! ^^

Null,

Welcome to the Forums!

Has this system ever been stable?
Is this something that has recently developed?

Hehe thanks, been around these forums for awhile, but I forgot my old login/pass and my email got cancelled D:!

Yes, the system used to be stable, the BSOD's have just recently developed and I haven't added any new hardware to the box.

It doesn't give any drivers that caused the error.

I just ran memtest86 for a few hours and no errors either.

Can you mail me the minidumps found in c:\windows\minidumps? I have MPSReports already, thanks.

done.

I can't find anything relevent to my blue screen on google.
It *may* be something related to firefox maybe since I seem to only get BSOD's when I'm surfing the web, which is really irritating.

I'll try *cringe* IE for a bit and see how that goes. This seems hopeless though, I may just format :/

The machine appears to be a disaster, in looking at the reboots.

Does it reboot in safe mode?

When is it most likely to reboot?

All the dumps I've opened so far have been corrupt, which is very unusual.

Do you have the latest nForce drivers (www.nvidia.com) on the PC?

Do you use nVidia's IDE drivers, or the standard Windows drivers? If you remove the nVidia *IDE* drivers (but JUST the IDE drivers) does anything get better?

The reason I ask this: You can't reliably save dumps - typically a disk issue. You also have this a lot:

6/14/2005 8:45:00 PM 4 0 2 nvatabus N/A --- \Device\NvAta0
6/14/2005 8:45:00 PM 4 0 2 nvatabus N/A --- \Device\NvAta0
6/14/2005 8:45:00 PM 4 0 2 nvatabus N/A --- \Device\NvAta0

That means device zero on NV-ATA (nvidia's ATA bus) has a problem or something is going on.

Unfortunately, that error doesn't go all the way back to when the dumps started, so it's only a possibility.

If I could read your dumps I could tell you more, but they're all corrupt.

Ya I tried reading the dumps, but it tells me they are corrupt.

I haven't tested the box in safe mode.

It's so random when it reboots, but it occurs a lot when I browse the internet using firefox. I tried using IE, and still rebooted. Happens sometimes when I just switch applications as well. It usually DOESN'T reboot when I'm playing games however.

Yes I have the latest nforce drivers. I use nvidia's IDE drivers, I will try to remove them later.

I recently just took out one of my ethernet cards, and replaced my keyboard.

We'll see how things go~

Hi, I got the similar problem.
Stop : 0x000000D1 (0x91EF6600,0x00000002,0x00000000,0xEFC3A12E) I think the error is in driver Symidsco.sys
It happens to me a lot when I'm using firefox or playing a game. Most of the time it will just freeze but sometimes it goes to the stop error screen.
I went to te Symantec site and it says there is a collision between norton security and Alcatel SpeedTouch modem driver. It said I should update but I didn't even need to install anything.

It's Symantec's intrusion detection stuff. Can you uninstall Norton Security and see if it goes away? I suspect it will.

Did this and it dosn't happen anymore but now I have no protection and a paid subscription to Symantec. I wanted to contact them but they only have payed support. What do you think I should do?

Their product doesn't work. It crashes your machine when you put it on there. You could assumedly only install the antivirus portion of it, which should be fine, or you could try installing various other options until you can reproduce the problem, then back off or uninstall whatever you'd just added, or you could call and complain enough, send them the dump you sent me, they'd agree they have a problem, and perhaps they'd have a hotfix for you.
