STOP 0x0000008E During Boot Screen

Hi,
I am new here and would really appreciate some help. My Specs are as follows:

DFI Nforce 4 SLI-DR Socket 939 Mobo
Athlon x2 4400 1mb
2 gb Corsair XMS3200 XMSPro (2 x 1024)
Nvidia 7800GTX
2 x 36gb Raptor SATA on NvRaid 0
Antec 480w NeoPower PSU

This is a brand new pc and has never worked before. I have installed xp 64 and it installs without any problems. However upon booting, just before the xp logo disapears I get a bsod with the above error number.

I have tried:

Each stick on its own and in every slot.
A generic stick of 512 and another corsair 512mb xms3200ll stick and they both do the same. Note that it doesn't boot the other sticks unless they are in the 2nd slot, which I can't suss out at all.
Using the Silicon Image raid controller.
Downloading the latest nvraid drivers for the floppy disk used in install.
A PATA hard drive to rule out the disks.
A PCI grfx card to rule out the nvidia and the psu, as I thought it may not of been pumping out enough power at one point.
Flashing the bios to the latest version, reseting and loading optimised defaults.
Tried installling normal xp, however this bsod's during the setup.
Whacking the cpu feen speed right up to make sure it aint temp related (averaging 40c)
Relaxing the ddr speed to 333, relaxing the cas to 3.
Increasing the ddr voltage to 2.7, decreasing to 2.5.

The error numbers all point towards it being a problem with the memory configuration, however I ran memtest for 4 hours straight and it did not find a single problem. So how can it be the memory?

The bios has more ram config options than you can shake a stick at. Anybody know where I am going wrong? Thanks,

hi. can it boot into safe mode properly or did it blue screened there too? is it possible to try installing the non xp 64.. like xp home or pro or even 2k to just see if its faulty drivers xp 64 is using after it set up?

Hi,

It bsods during the setup of 32 bit xp, so you don't even get as far. It blue screens loading safe mode as well, just when all the white text has finished loading on screen,

these are all new parts out of the box correct?
1. you tried using different ram and they all pass memtest 86+
2. you tried a different video card, a pci one..
3. you even tried using pata hdd instead of sata to install windows.
4. you tried bios configs to defaults and a newer bios.
5. even xp 32 instead of 64 to rule out driver issuses in 64bit..
- there are only 3 things i can think of..you probably tried them also..
all add in cards are out. only parts in are video, athlon x2, 1 hdd, ram. and it bsod..

**research your error code on microsofts website for more ideas..

*your doing installs Not doing raid.. installing on only 1 hdd right at this point?

*can you try a different power supply since it looks like you havent as of yet?

*is it possible to try a different mobo or cpu since thats the only other things not tried..
