Stoopid Magic the gathering card questions

Oyeve

Lifer
OK, for some reason I am interested in finding if my old MTG cards are worth anything. I bought thousands of these stupid cards nearly 10 years ago and could never get into it so I thought, hey, why not sell these things and buy a new P4. Well, I have no clue what they are worth and don't know how to go about finding which cards are worth what. For example, a card that says "Thallid" can have the exact attributes and text but have a different picture. Which is the better/more valuable card? Most of my cards are black (or is it a really dark green?) bordered but I have some decks that are white bordered. Whats the dif except the color? Where can one go online that lists these things?

I was willing to answer a "question". Not "questions".

Google.com is your friend 🙂

And Ebay is the best bet for actually getting money for them.

the card you sited is worthless..it's probably from the fallen empire exp.

older cards are only worth something if they're from unlimited edition or earlier, as for expansions, stuff from legends and older

i still have a couple black loti, and a complete set of legends sitting at home collecting dust.... maybe i'll sell it eventually...but i dont need money now.

What is really important is the rarity and usefulness of the card as well as what expansion the cards are from. Thallids are from Fallen Empires. I don't know how much those sorts of cards are worth, nowadays, but if you've got some rare 3rd Edition revised stuff (and earlier) then you could potentially have some valuable cards. Here is a site with card lists from the various expansions. No matter what you do, you are going to need to go through your cards, figure out what your rare and valuable cards are, and then check the prices against eBay.

Lists

The various expansions can be identified by the graphic on the right hand side of the card. Also, if you have any cards entitled "Mox ***" where the *** is some kind of gem (ie emerald, ruby, etc), then you can just send them to me. They aren't worth anything 😉

Good luck.

There are 4 different Thallid's from Fallen Empires, all are Common, and should be worthless (a green 1/1 that has something to do with spore counters if i remember correctly). They all do the same thing, but with different art- this trend started in the Fallen Empire's expansion, which was also way over printed and very watered down. I would venture to say that Dark is the last expansion set worth anything, and Revised being the last set worth anything, but then again, I havn't played since long before Weatherlight. And of course, if anyone is interested in some of my cards, drop me a line @ david@schrothonline.com

Black border cards usually means its a first edition\first run, etc- the first Fallen Empires run would be black borders, but if any of the cards are picked up in a later general set (like 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, whatever they're on now), the border would be white in those sets.
