stolen xbox 360

Well my TV, PS3, and 360 were stolen out of my house today. I am hoping the idiots will be stupid enough to turn the 360 on and login to live maybe.

If anyone sees my gamertag "ric1287" online, please shoot me a PM. Thanks.

Maybe you should contact Microsoft and see if they can help.

I guess you don't have a PSN account?

my PSN acct is "ric1287" too, but I don't know how their system works. I know MS can look up the IP of an xbox live acct though.

What would you have us say? Trust me, I'd love to help in any way possible, but alerting the thief that someone is onto him might not be the best move.

Regardless, good luck with the case.

people who steal consoles aren't stupid enough to keep them.

Expect your console and TV to be transmitting from nicaragua in the next few days.

I said let me know, not him know. MS can lookup the last IP of the console.

No, shady pawn shop most likely. I would expect it to be used again though.

whoever has it can say they bought it off some guy on craigslist, even if they are the thieves. Nobody will go after them because it's nearly impossible to prove anything based on the console alone.

Of course, robbers probably don't have internet or broadband. So they will play solely offline with their ghetto friends. Even if they have internet, it's probably stolen as well.

So did they break in? Do you live in a bad area? A dorm? Maybe it's your friends. They say most robberies are inside jobs.

On a personal note, If that ever happened to me, I wouldn't feel safe living there anymore. So you should have bigger issues right now then recovering your xbox.

yeah the police take down all the serial numbers and run them with pawn shops. The xbox is replaceable obviously, I just want the d-bag caught.

haha, calm down there. An axe murderer didn't rob my house....a 19 year old midget Filipino did.

Most people don't move out after 15 years living in a place with no problems either.

Did you do a survey of robbers to come to this conclusion? You make a lot of assumptions in your post based off 0 knowledge.

FYI: If you have stolen property and no receipt, it is you that are in trouble.

so are you saying I shouldn't buy anything off craigslist anymore if they don't have a receipt???

@shingletingle my assumptions are usually on spot. Are you a robber? Are you here to prove me wrong?

You should watch that show on Discovery called "It Takes a Thief". That will enlighten you a little bit in regards to who these thieves really can be and how they probably live. They got guys on that show that clear entire houses of valuables including furniture in under 15 min and sell it all for 50k-75k . These guys make lots of money if they know what they are doing. Granted, many thieves are not like the guys on this show but it still puts it all into perspective. If anything, the show is good for entertainment and it teaches you a lot about home security.

1. I hate to break it to you, but if the police find you with stolen property, you will probably be the one suspected of stealing it initially. It doesn't mean that you are going to jail ASAP; however, you probably should be ready to cooperate with the cops so that the real criminal is caught.

2. If you buy something that was "stolen" the cops don't feel bad for you and let you keep it. Recovered property is returned to the owner... regardless of how you came about it.

3. When you register a 360 with live, it takes down the serial number. The serial number is not only on the back of the console, it's also imbedded in the software/hardware. It would be pretty easy to prove where a console came from.... or at least that the person who reported it stolen did indeed initially register it.

4. Not all "robbers" are "ghetto." The career ones certainly know what they are doing... and being as they took enough stuff from the OP to pay for broadband for several years... I'm sure that robber can afford it.

on a lighter note, has anyone had experience with insurance claims with StateFarm? I have receipts for all of the 'major' things the dude got, will they just cut me a check for what they cost?
