How they get you, let say you bought something and it drop in value in a day or so, you hang until it comes back but it never does and most are not willing to sell it not realizing that their loss are much bigger as time goes. Some just never learn, they lost a fortune like 10K within a few month and still don't get it and continue to put more money and continue to lose more. It just doesn't make any sense. Once you bought something at it highest peak which some living in a fantasy world think it will continue to rise giving them profit but will be dragged down to the bottom pit as market loses value. Secondly there is no gurantee that you are going to even make a penny! Every transaction are charged a fee at the same time you investment loses, a double edged sword stabbed to the back. It exactly like casino where if you lose a little you try to win it back but end up losing more and you won't quit until you are broke. To hell with the stock market and the crook behind it, which has destroyed many people financial savings including mine. I wish someone would throw them in jail and return all the money to all the poor fellow who lost their money into it. It is not a friendly world is it, some will do anything to make easy buck at expense of other's convenient. Where did all the money you lost go to? Did it just vaporize into thin air? Is the brokerage, firm behind this? What they don't tell you is, you loss is their gain especially when you lose big. Last, why play a fool's game that says risk and you may lose most if not all, something that is in very small print. I've done with my rant if anyone who lost a fortune you know you are the victim of give all your money to scumbag and you should not blame yourself. Since it really is their fault and they are the one controlling the market, not you.

Another vote for paragraphs!

Some stocks maybe but until 1999/2000 many solid mutual funds were consistently giving double-digit returns over many decades, especially the more aggressive ones.

And RobCur wins the Economic Darwin Award!

The thread title really should say:
stocks, mutual fund are not for fools like RobCur

Oh well, his panic selling helps lower prices when I'm buying funds for the long term :)

This is something called a recession... when stocks are typically on the downturn for a certain amount of time.

It's called risk, something that's involved in investment. Those who are smart can ensure they have a solid financial basis, with low risk, and let the extra build on itself over time.

No, I am not an idiot. You sir are a hippocrite, and your english is no better then a 1st grader. hey kids, go find something better to do then flame someone. Comprende? I'm fed up how one person bashes one another then the crowd follow. Jesus man, give me a break. Mod, you may lock this thread. I am basically wasting my time here and most are here just to poke fun at one another. I feel that my reply deserve better then this from those who know what I am talking about. But me guess am talking to the wrong crowd. Later.

Concidering some of the "Crowd" here could buy and sell your ass in a heartbeat, I would watch what I say :p

Some of the people here have already passed the 1M mark, then fallen back down. And ya know what? We are buying. You want to get out of the market, fine by me. Makes the stuff Iwant to buy cheaper.

As for the flaming: There is this thing called the "enter button" it is made so you can break up your sentences into managable chunks. That is what we are b!tching about. this is a message board, where you post so others can comment. If it is unreadable, or hurts your eyes, then people b!tch.

Oh, and Welcome to AT.

robcur, i'm sorry you lost a lot of money. it appears that no one ever explained the risks of the stock market to you. it's basically a form of legalized gambling, and no one will dispute that. but you have to understand that incomprehensible rants that border on hysterical ramblings aren't taken very well here. it's not the end of the world, hopefully you've learned a valuable lesson and can rebuild your savings as a wiser man. good luck.
