When the stock market closes, there is still trading going on. How is this possible? How do you get into trading after hours? Why does this happen?

You can still trade on ECN. Just because the NYSE is closed dosent mean you cant sell stock.

The stock EXCHANGE is exactly that, a place where people go to exchange stock. You could sell shares a the locker room of the country club if you wanted.
