How can you say that when some of the most successful hedge funds use technical analysis?

I just met with a very famous CEO of a $5 billion hedge fund this past week and he says he uses technical analysis. He is worth several billion dollars and I doubt he's an idiot.

Now relying on a single criteria like technical analysis may not be prudent because I feel you have to use all forms of analysis but technical analysis has been shown to be an effective method of judging how stocks will react.

You said you were going to trade everyday but now you say 'invest'. They are two different worlds often can be mutually exclusive groups. The less fundamentally sound companies are often best companies to 'trade' during the day because there is more supply/demand imbalances and thus more volatility (critical for short-term 'trading' profits).

If you are interested in the markets I seriously suggest you spend a lot of time researching different approaches to analyzing the markets and/or individual stocks as well as strategies to trading or investing in them before you get close to looking at taking positions in anything.

There are plenty of books and sites about trading and investing to help you increase your odds towards achieving your goals.

Exactly.

Investing and trading are completely different. The OP really should educate himself because he will be in above his head.

The only good investment i nthe bunch is Wal-Mart

If you want semiconductor stocks (semis), look at LLTC. Don't gamble with companies with questionable futures. LLTC chips are in everything. Probably in your PC right now. And in your car. And in your microwave and in your UPS ...

I actually follow LU and MOT professionally as an analyst. The guy next to me follows SIRI and the guy behind me is an axe on INTC.

Technical or fundamental? and whats your professional opinion on LU and MOT?

I think I have a screenshot of LU when it was around 50cents a share, and the bid and ask size was 9234982390482304 x 9234908324327845 :)
