stock vs after market HSF

I have a barton 2500+ and was running it with stock HSF that came with the CPU ... it had thermal paste on it ..... had no issues with it till I installed doom 3 .... after 30 mins of game play the rig would heat up to 65C degrees and would reboot (BIOS setting) ... removed the thermal pad and applied AC ... the temps improved but still hovered around 55c to 60C (load) .... got a good deal on Thermaltake A1889-01 Silent Boost ($25.00 from fry's) now the load temps are around 45C to 48C and much quieter 🙂 ... moral of this post .... after market HSF do make a difference
