Stock settings: which is better X2 3800 or Opty 165?

I dont want to overclock at all, i'm just wondering which core would be better for stock performance.

Its not quite that easy. The opteron would have advantages in some situations. That said if your not going to overclcok(why not?) then go with whatever is the cheepest. Depending on what your doing you may not even need a dual core.

I just dont want to have my system hanging or restarting for no reason...that and I'm not comfortable with my ASRock's OC settings in the BIOS i havent yet learned what anything is when it comes to the specifics of ram timings...that and I cant even find the FSB or HTT settings in the BIOS.

Clock speed > cache, every single benchmark shows that.

It's very easy to overclock, if you find someone who's got the same board as you they can help you out.
