Okay..so I was reading up on a stock, and it says it pays it's Dividends on January 15th, to anyone who owns it as of December 31st, if I am correct.

Does that mean I can just buy a stock today, hold it till January, collect my dividend, and sell it?

Also, do most companies pay dividends around the same time that pay annually?

Just curious.

Hmm..Question answered. The stock is just going to drop by the dividend amount. Figured there was a reason it wasn't a more popular thing.

Thanks Jake. =)
