Hi, i was wondering how well the stock intel hsf compared with some of the more expensive hsfs. I don't plan to overclock, just trying to cool down the system, right now its 36-38 idle, and around 50 some load. some advice would be great =)
You have no need to worry about cooling... if you are not overclocking, you will do just fine with the P4 HSF. I'm also using my Intel stock HSF on an overclocked 2.6C (@3.26Ghz) and my temps are 40C idle CPU, 58C load. That is on my ABIT IS7 which is notorious for reporting higher temps (7-10C) than the rest of the mobos around (depends on the sensor placement). Sounds like you may be ready to O/C if you want to... good luck!
EDIT: by the way... you don't need to worry until your CPU starts getting to 72C-75C... right around there is where it will go into thermal throttling (stepping down in order to compensate for heat). As long as your system is stable at the temps you stated, you are OK!
