Stock Opteron 165 HSF CFM?

Hi all,

Anyone know how many CFM the Stock Opteron HS Fan pushes?

I'm thinking about upgrading the fan and am trying to make sure I actually make an upgrade instead of a downgrade 🙂

I'm also trying to figure out if there is such thing as going overboard with the CFM. The Deltas look nice, but would the Delta 80x38mm Ultra High Speed be overkill?

Thanks!

overkill...i dont' believe in...too loud, i do. 😛

also, it seems the stock fan is temp controlled (which I don't like at all) and it needs to reach upper 50s-60s to go to its next stage (3k+ RPM) . . under 55cish it runs at 2.8k RPM . .

i'm personally going for a Scythe Ninja and quieter 120mm fan . . I'm all about the 120mms 😀

EDIT: Actually, I had a fan like or VERY close to what you linked there, and those are v. loud . . they DO cool v. good, but...up to you on the 'loudness' issue. I ran it for a while in place of my 70mm TMD fan, and I ended up going back to the quieter 70mm and few C higher temps . .

The stock fan is temperature controlled, and spins at 5200RPM at full speed. I'd give you the CFM, but I can't find the model on Delta's website.

how can i 'disable' the onboard thermistor? will causing an 'open' make it go full speed (as in cut one side of the thermistor)?

i should know this one, but can't really put it together atm. 😛

i have not looked REAL close at the fan/thermistor, but i'd guess it'd be much like any other 'temp controlled' fan?

i think if i could get it to run 'full speed' it'd make a good diff on OCing . . 😉 I've never seen the RPM over ~3000, so I know its not hitting its full potential.

as i understand, thats cpu temp it goes off of . . not its own thermistor temp.

and either way, i have mine set to 100% in bios . .
