Will the Stock HSF suffice when overclocking my Duron 650, or should I purchase an aftermarket product? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks :)

Stock heatsink gets hot with the weak ass fan on it.

I would suggest Global win FOP32-1

What's the difference between a Golden Orb and a Chrome Orb (besides the color and the square bottom)?

I mean performance wise. I have a golden Orb and the Chrome just came out. I haven't even begun to use my Golden Orb yet (since I had to wait for my KT7-RAID to arrive) and it's already outdated. S#$@!

BTW: I got my KT7-RAID from Isquared.com for $151! That's the best price I found.

Both the Golden Orb and Chrome Orb have fans that run at the same speed, although the Chrome Orb is supposed to have marginally better performance. The Chrome Orb is an update to the Golden Orb to allow easier installation and not break Socket A chips. If you own a KT7-Raid you cannot install a Chrome Orb unless you sand down some of the fins. I would recommend you get a Alpha PAL6035 instead of using any of the Thermaltake products.

Too late. I already bought it. I had to slightly "move" one of the big thingie (capacitor?). Just bent it a little bit on the top and got it in. However, there's a big problem, my cpu constantly register 62C. That's high! It's not that hot when I touch it but it keeps going up from 54C everytime I boot. What gives? Is this because of the thermistor? Faulty perhaps?

Oh and I didn't removed the pink heat transfer thing on the bottom of the GORB. Am I supposed to do that? Isn't it made for better heat transfer? I removed the plastic covering for the pink material as instructed.

Also, my Elsa Erazor X SDR is cooking hot! I don't know why this is. The core voltage kept on registering 1.56v I didn't even overclock my multiplier-unlocked Duron 650 yet.

Help?!

I got the Global FOP32-1 and dropped my temp 5 deg C and am running Duron 600@950 stable for about a week now.

Oh yeah... CPU temp between 48 and 51 deg C.

Okay I found my problem. It's the two additional rubber feet for the GORB. The new version includes it because there was some problem with the feetless GORBs crushing the Duron's core.
However, I read a thread that said that the four rubber feet on the Duron are enough. Anything extra may prevent the heatsink from touching the cpu core so I went ahead and removed both feet. I also found out that there's an additional layer of plastic on the bottom of the GORB. Removed that as well (I left the pinkish stuff though). Now my CPU registers 43-51C.

Big smile on my face. However, when I oced my 650 to 900 or 950. The temp runs up to about 57. Sometimes it goes up to 61. Not safe so I dropped it back to 800 now. Running stable but still a little hot.

BTW: I'd like to run my Duron at 950. It seems fine but the temp is around 56-61. Too high. Any suggestion for heat transfer grease?

What about the Globalwin FOP 38? I've heard they out perform the alphas by a couple of degrees. They sell them at millisec and they are modified to fit t-birds properly. Im thinkin about gettin one. I was just wondering how good they are compared to alphas.
