Stock fan & H/S on E6700 or upgrade?

I have a Core2 duo E6700 o its way. I don't plan on Overclocking or gaming (photoshop/business PC) is the stock heatsink and fan sufficient? Low noise is important too. I have a LianLi 6070 plus case.

It depends on how well-ventilated your case is, how close to your ears your PC is located, how sensitive your hearing is to the frequency of the fan, how CPU-intensive your Photoshop projects are, etc.

You can install and uninstall the stock cooler easily without the need to access the other side of the motherboard.

Why don't you install it and give it a try? Set your motherboard BIOS to control the fan RPM based on temperature. If you find it to be too loud, order a more efficient cooler.

Well since you've not installed anything take the opportunity to replace it with a good hsf that will keep it as cool as possible. I'm not a big ocer however I do appreciate having increased cooling just in case the ac goes out. The stock mounting system sucks and the legs don't always stay locked in the holes. A hsf with the mounting backplate is more secure and you won't have to worry about the legs releasing unexpectedly like one did on my stock hsf. This is why I'm running an enzotech ultra-x but you don't have to go that large.
