Stock E6400 is 64C at load?

Just set up my new E6400 rig (Asus P5B board, Antec P180 case with standard fans, stock heatsink/fan). It seems to be running extremely hot compared to the numbers I've seen on here. 45C idle, but after 5 minutes of SP2004 it hit 64C, and this is with NO overclocking, and no altering of voltages. The motherboard/ambient temperature stays constant at 35C.

I understand that a better HSF will cool better than the stock setup. However, this is still abnormally high compared to numbers I've seen. I know artic silver will help, but not that much. I know the HS is seated squarely because the computer is laying on its side so gravity is ensuring good contact.

Any suggestions? Is something wrong? My voltages look fine. I'll try fooling with the case fans to get a little more flow, but my stock temps seem to be higher than what others are getting at 50% overclocks with stock cooling. Thanks!

It's telling you 64C at stock speeds?

What does it tell you at 425 FSB? If that's the case I'll feel better trying to OC.

Just put my 6400 in today and i'm runnin at around 27 at idle so it looks like your definately high. Maybe turn your stuff off and reseat your heatsink. Try a different program to check your temp too maybe.

Mine is 69-74c under load when at 3ghz and 1.3v actual, but I'm Prime95 stable going on 16 hours now :p I'm pretty sure the temperature is reported wrong on Asus boards.

Just to add: I swapped my coolers today (from the Intel stock to XP90) and the temps are *exactly* the same, when I know they are definitely not. Something is up with temp reporting on the P5B\D.
