Im trying to build a very low cost computer and was wondering if the intel is worth the extra few bucks. The reason they will be stock is because im getting low end motherboards.. m2a-vm mobo for amd or a 945 chipset one for the intel. Thanks

I don't think there is a cheap good overclocking mATX Intel mobo. At stock the 3800+ is better at gaming (but with onboard video your not really going to be gaming.) The 690G would be better than a 945G at gaming too. If you get a decent video card and a overclocking mobo the 2140 is a much better choice. With onboard video and no overclocking the 3800+/690G is the better choice.

Stock vs stock, the 3800+ might be a few % faster in a majority of tasks.

What's your budget? If it's under $800 (or you have parts you can use, like a monitor + keyboard + mouse + other peripherals), you might want to check out my hastily-put-together rig. $520 for the core parts, and designed to overclock to 3.0ghz and beyond... it's always good to have options :)
