Stock Dividends

I can't find this information anywhere. I know someone who gets dividend checks every 3 months, but is this the case for all? Is it random, and how do I find out how often a company does give the dividends out?

Usually once a quarter.

The company website should have all the info you need in the Investor Relations area.

depends, some pay once a month, but usually they pay out every quarter, and sometimes throw in a special one or two if they make too much money or feel generous.

1. Find the ticker symbol for the company in question. In this case, we'll use Ford, which has a ticker symbol of F.

2. Go to Yahoo. Click on Stocks. Enter the ticker symbol.

3. Under quotes, click on historical prices. Look at the radio button on the right in the "Set Date Range" box.

4. Click on "Dividends Only" and then "Get Prices"

Some issues pay quarterly. Others issues pay special dividends. Many issues don't pay a dividend at all.

yeah... usually once every quarter, if the company gives dividend at all in the first place. Gucci, for example, actually give dividend once a year (and boy do they give alot). Meanwhile, most don't give any at all (Microsoft didn't until last year), and the dividends are soo little anyway that i personally don't really care about. Mortage firms and electric companies usually yield the highest divident/price ratio.

anyways, back to your question, i also have a hard time finding divdend yield dates on finance.yahoo.com and moneycentral.msn.com, they will however, tell you when the NEXT date is.
I do know ameritrade.com can give you the previous yield dates.
