Forgive me, I don't know much about cooling.

1. Is it bad on a CPU for it to run hot, say around 140 faren.

2. When I get a bigger CPU, like a I5-2500K, will the stock cooler be adequate when it runs at full load?

If I get a quad core, that will be plenty. I would not have any reason to overclock.

It's ok if load is in 60's celcius or 70's c . however you would want it more to be 50's c to 60's c on full load. At 85c or 95c for Sandy I believe the comp shuts off to protect CPU. gl

The stock cooler on Core i5 2500K will be fine if you don't overclock and have a decent air cooled case. Intel wouldn't be bundling them with the CPUs if they just burned out during a stress test.

If you OC, then it's a different matter.
