Do I need to buy an aftermarket HSF for the Q9550 or is the stock good enough?

I'm not oc'ing, barely play any games. Mainly home video editing, trade for a living across 3 monitors, and then basic web/email/etc...

I want this PC i'm building to last 5 years, so I have no problem buying an aftermarket HSF if you think I MAY need one, but if I definitely do NOT, then I won't.

Tnx.

If it wasn't good enough, why would they include it? It does make a nice paperweight if you take the pins off.

Thinking that an aftermarket cooler is mandatory may be a sign of reading these boards too long w/ the whole OMG must OC impulse.

Its adequate but its loud! There's some pretty nice coolers out there for $15-20, like an OCZ Vendetta 2 at MicroCenter. You could probably get away with almost passive cooling with one of the better heat sinks out there, which is what I'd strive for if I wasn't OC'ing at all.
