Stock AMD X2 HSF install question

Since the AMD X2 comes with a thermal pad on the bottom of its stock HSF, do you still need to use artic silver or is their thermal pad enough???

Thermal pad will start to crack and die in 1-2 Years and doesn't have really as good thermal heat transfer. For system stabilty and longevity, use AS5.

Should I remove the stock thermal pad before install and use only the Artic Silver? Or can I just apply the AS and leave the pad on?

Remove the pad, Apply AS.

Thanks for the help. I found Artic Silver Thermal Material Remover & Surface Purifier at Newegg, so I assume this will get the job done right.....

If you decide to remove the thermal pad, be careful not to scratch the base. Do not use a metallic object for scraping off. Just peel it off. Use Alcohol for cleaning the surface before applying the paste.

Never use paste and pad together.

Yah, so clean the surface off with something like a credit card.

Then use an extreamly pure(for best results) acholhol (sp really bad) and use a non lint cloth to get it as close to a mirror finish as possible(clean). Use a blow drier or leave it for awhile to make sure that it is dry, then follow the instructions on Artic silvers site to apply the paste and HSF. Finish, install windows and games and play for 10 hours straight to justify your purchase 😀
