Stock AMD CPU cooling

Can anyone tell me if it would be worth moving my X2 stock cooling fan to my 3500+ processor? I am upgrading the X2 to water cooling and was wondering if the X2 cooling fan would not be more effective than the 'X1' cooling fan.

My gut feel is that it would not seeing as the heat output is probably not much more on the X2's becasue of improvements in the CPU technology.

I do have a ZALMAN fan curently on the 'X1' processor - the fan with the Cu/Al base and the fins that come out of the side and are spaced nicely around the blades of the fan.

The strock X2 cooler had 4 heat pipes and a good heat sink, but a smallish fan.

Any thoughts please?

I use generic HSFs on my 3 AMD rigs. I have LL cases which aid in cooling. I've added YL 120mm fans as side intake and top exhaust on my Lian-Li's. My temps are quite low and under load the temps are very resonable too. The YL fans added airflow has lowered my inner case temps bt al least 8C/10C. Its your choice.
