Chances are the Cards will make it into the playoffs, but wont go very far. I had a few things that i thought would be very very good to do in the offseason.
Personally, although, in my mind, Jimmy Edmonds is the best fielding CF ever, he is getting old and is kind of beat up. His defense is still among the best, but i think that his offense is lacking when he does play. So in my mind this is his last year. If you guys have watched the Cardinals at all, I think that Skip Schumaker would be an excellent replacement. He seems to have above par fielding, can hit for avg with a little pop here and there, and has speed.
Furthermore, while Chris Duncan is very impressive, i dont think he is what the Cardinals need. Do you guys think for a Minor League Prospect or something and Duncan, the Devil Rays would trade Carl Crawford. The Cards badly need speed, and Crawford would definitely be the answer. He seems to me to be a very complete player offensively, on the bases, and defensively.
That having been said, I think that Juan Encarnacion has really pulled it together and done exceptionally well this year. I have been very pleased with his performance and i think he should stay next year.
The infield is very solid, but i think the Cards might want to entertain another 2B or something, but Belliard is starting to come around.
What do you guys think?
