Came to work this afternoon, The other shift girl tells me a room was vandalised, that the cops came. Friday night a group of young americans come in, pay cash, and start a night on the town. As they come back around 3:30-4:00 AM, two of them start having a conversation with the night desk girl (who has about 3-4 weeks experience here), the other two go to their rooms. Well it seems that dumbness flew around at that moment...
- The two having the conversation were so good it lasted 1½ hours
- During this time, the other two went through 2 heavy doors (the steel frames took most of the hits) were running around the hotel screaming and banging everywhere
- During all this time, three other rooms (slow night) were all awake because of this but none bothered to call the front desk, one lady saying she was too scared
The housekeeper found the outside door of their room (both doors that were hit were theirs, one inside, one outside) was wide open. Nevermind that it was below freezing point all night long. She calls the morning desk girl, who as soon as she gets out of the room, has to face the hotel owner as to why she wasn't at the front desk. She just pointed the room. One minute later the cops were called (and most of the waitresses from the hotel's restaurant were asking what happened to make the boss so angry).
So the cops did the routine stuff: prints, pictures and trash. It seems they found one nice piece of evidence in the latter: credit card slip. They had paid cash for their room, but used credit for something else (food, probably). We're confident we'll get the money to pay back the repairs. The number they gave us is a cell phone based in the area of the adress we have on file, so there's a possibility it's not that fake (when lying, people always used a part of their own reality).
Right now, the night girl who got tricked will probably learn of this on monday from the police investigators and our manager still doesn't know as the owner took care of it all.
I'm just happy i didn't work yesterday
So who's the dumbest in all this: the night desk girl, the bad guests, the other guests ?
I might have pics of the doorframes in a day or two.
cliff notes
hotel guests come in, go downtown for drinks, come back
2 have loooong conversation with night desk girl
2 others bust out their doors, both inside and outside
night girl doesn't notice
other guests don't call it in
morning: housekeeper finds out, owner eventually does, calls cops
cops find credit slip
Dumbest between night girl, bad guests, other guests ?
