I'm waiting on a real baseball game (a sim, not this stupid "The Bigs" crap) for the Wii, along with SSB. I love Wii Sports baseball, but I need more...until then I'll just play GH2 and Catan on my 360 :p

The Wii is cheap and fun.
Interestingly enough thats what video gamers want.

Not really.. its the non-gamers that are buying up the wii. Every "gamer" that I know that has a wii hates it.

I wouldn't say hate, but they definitely prefer a 360 or PS3. The Wii is fun but for single player or online play, the Wii gets old fast (or after you beat Zelda).

exactly. :p
the sports are fun once in a while but after a while its just boring.

I think the best part of this thread is everyone trashing on the PS3/360 fanboys for disagreeing. Pot/kettle, etc.
I own a Wii and a 360. I'll probably buy a PS3 at some point. I hardly ever play my Wii anymore, unless I have people over to play it. I beat Zelda, and there's only so many times you can play mini games by yourself. I enjoy the concept of the Wii, there just aren't enough good single player games out yet. Give it another year or so, and hopefully all this changes and I can play the Wii more.

I am an ex-Wii owner. After beating Zelda, it started to collect dust. Yes, it's fun with friends for a while, but it got old. I sold it shortly after for profit.

To all those who say, "OMG you hatez teh Wii! U r not a true gamerz!" STFU. I have been gaming over 20 years, and no, PS wasn't my first console. Talk about generalization and fanboyism.

I think I sort of figure out the reason for the shortage: my cousin. Ever since he learned that you can sell Wii on ebay for profit from my b-i-l, he and his family, and even some relatives, started hunting down all the Wii he could find and stock-piling them and selling them on ebay for profit. If ppl stop paying $50 over msrp on ebay then the shortage might ease a little.

ps i'm a PC gamer and i love the wii. For single player and online games i enjoy my pc game collections more than any console, but since I'm married the wii games are the only games that my wife and I can enjoy together (she's no gamer).

If the draw of the Wii is having fun playing with friends and non gamers its going to lose the console war. Most gamers play single player games. It is still the most dominant form of gaming. Of course there are exceptions like mmorpgs and playing madden/sports games with buddies and other multiplayer situations; these however are still usually fun because of the game and not completely because of the other people.

You don't need a console to have fun with people who don't play games or groups of friends. You can do almost any group activity and have fun.

Video games usually offer escape for most people and that experience is usually solitary. Multiplayer games are not particular social either even though others are present. The best games are always the ones that are 1. fun, but 2. the most immersive and gripping.

Most casual gamers might buy one or two games but thats it. I know so many people who had just bought the xbox just to play halo and after that never used it again (well except halo 2).

So once frying virtual eggs and throwing virtual bowling balls isn't fun anymore the wii will collect dust except for that same group who supported the gamecube.

It's the other way around. The shortage is what enables people like your cousin to make money off it. Most of the selling for profit ended months ago when the price dropped to $300 on eBay. I'm surprised people like your cousin are still doing it honestly, hardly seems worth the effort for so little money after fees and whatnot. Anyway, there are only 1800 Wii systems listed on eBay right now - hardly enough to cause the shortage when Nintendo is shipping a few hundred thousand of them every month.

i am a gamer.have been since i was 2 (yes my first game play experience was at 2 using a commodore 64..ofcourse my brothers were helping me).

true gamers will appreciate the Wii. for its superior gameplay and advanced technology. and don't give me graphics as a reason that Wii is not advanced. People who hate the Wii either

a. bought a ps3 or xb360 and now regret it and are mad.
b. are dumb graphics whores.
c. are the so called HARDCORE gamers who started playing after video gaming became cool with the ps2.

Really, because I swear the gameplay ont he wii isn't superior to other systems, just differet. I woke up early one sunday and bought a wii for my little brother because he was obsessed with it. Guess what, it collects dust now, he only plays it when his friends are over and even then they don't play for long. What I hate about Wii fans are that they automatically assume the controller is innovative and better than anything else. You call it advanced technology but it uses IR for god's sake how old is that crap. Accelerometers aren't advanced technology, and nothing else in the Wii is.

I started gaming with a coleco vision, and I can't stand people who want the Wii just because they grew up with nintendo and its nostalgic. Hell I still have a working NES but I don't want a Wii because its boring as hell unless you're drunk with a bunch of friends. But even then what isn't fun when you're drunk with a bunch of friends.

All of your reasons are pathetic, do you really think someone can actually not like the Wii or are you so obsessed with it that you can't possibly see any flaws with it?
