Still running Nvidia 2.08, want to install new drivers but problems

I am still running Nvidia's 2.08 drivers for my TNT2, because Detonator 2 and Detonator 3 drivers do not work with my STB Desktop TV card. If I install any drivers other than 2.08, I get just a pink TV screen. Not only that, if I install Detonator 3 drivers I only get BSODs when I reboot. What could be causing these problems, any ideas??

Clear out references to the old drivers from the Registry, and make sure that you switch to the Standard VGA driver before you install the new ones. Don't bother going with Detonator 3....they are pretty much optimised for the GeForces, and slow down the TNT/TNT2s a little bit as compared to Detonator 2.

wus up. I ran into the same problem...I have a stb tv tuner also. The reason why it does that is because the new drivers have overlay control and is conflicting with the overlap countrol of the stb tuner. You can't have both so here is what I do to solve that problem. when I need to use the tv tuner i turn off the overlay control of the nvidia driver. This is how you do it. Thru editing the regestry.

Turn off overlay:

hkey_local_machine/system/class/display/nvidia/directdraw ---------------once you go here...there should be a key labeled overlaycolorcontrolenable, double click that then then enter the value 0 and then press enter.

If you want to enable it again...just replace the 0 with a 1 and that will turn it on. Hope this helps. If you don't know how to edit the regestry...ask me and I'll help you thru it. Ok good luck and best of luck. Laters.
