Where can I get it?

I'm guessing since it's not available on Microsoft's website anymore, I'm out of luck. Figured I'd ask just in case.

Thanks!

You can get it by torrent if you desire. The product keys are still posted on various sites so all you would have to do is google them. Those keys also work on the latest build 7048. If you are going to eval Win 7, I suggest you download build 7048 instead of the beta.

If you need a torrent client, I suggest Utorrent. A good place to find the seed would be Mininova.

Ah, I didn't want to suggest torrents b/c I thought it might be illegal. I guess since it's a public beta, it's okay, though.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check 'em out when I get home.

Technically, yes it is illegal to obtain those from torrent. Reality is that Microsoft is turning a blind eye to it because these copies are time bombed and the extra installs actually help with the testing and feed back process.

If Microsoft was enforcing it's license then people Like Adrian Kingsley Hughes, Paul Thurrott, and Ed Bott would not be blogging about their experiences with build 7048. Their lively hoods depend on being in good graces with Microsoft so I doubt they would blog about copies of Win 7 they obtained by torrent if they thought for one second that Microsoft might take legal action against them or deny them future access over it. Another thing to consider is if Microsoft was really against the availability of 7048, the published public keys for the beta would not work to activate 7048.

I suspect that Steven Sinofsky unofficially green lighted the release to torrent of 7048 to target specifically geeks and to produce more positive press about windows 7. Microsoft has a history of turning a blind eye to piracy and other less than legal means of obtaining Windows when it suited their interest to do so, specifically to build and maintain their monopoly.

Please, everyone in the beta has access to the weekly builds and some of us to the daily ones. Of course 7048 was gonna leak, when you have a beta that big it's almost guaranteed and it would be stupid of MS to change the keys every day for each build.
