Still one of the best scenes out there

I don't know what it is but there is something about the scene in matrix 2 after neo meets the oracle and all the agents keep coming and coming and coming.

The sound, the effects, the raw energy demands that it be played super loud and re-watched until you have no sweat left.

eh, CGI or not, thats all just technicalities.

The scene definitely IS intense as hell, and IMO that makes for a good scene in my book :).

That's a scene I'd love to see revisted in another 5 years or so and have the CGI reworked. It would be a cool scene if there wasn't an obvious difference between the actors and the CGI work.

Well I guess that's where I differ.

The overall feel and build of the scene is amazing IMHO. I don't care about the CG, the build and change in sound/action is what makes it for me. Listen to the sound and the change. It's not a "bullet time" kind of action sound but the overall sound of the effects is slowed down just enough to make me believe I can do that.

I'm left with a strong emotional pull for the character and can totally relate to seemingly impossible odds and yet still pushing stronger until you finally say - "I gotta get out of here NOW"

There aren't to many scenes that leave such an impact. At least for me.

When I saw it in theaters, I was blown away. Watching it on DVD, that scene still was very impressive. After watching it in HD, it became exceedingly apparent just how CG it was. While it was still a great scene, the CG really detracted from the believability of it. This of course is the problem with any CG production. Within a few years, technology is so much more advanced that upon revisiting what was the state of the art, you now see the imperfections.

That's my point, there's an obvious point where Neo ceases to be Keanu Reeves and is clearly entirely CG, and that's when it starts looking a little silly and detracts from the scene.

I can't even watch the second matrix movie anymore, the action sequences seem completely overdone and not in a good way. It just gets annoying quite honestly. I haven't watched the third one even a second time although I would put it between the first and second ones in how much I liked it. I usually don't complain too much about product placement, but the highway scene is a complete joke because its like some kinda of hell in which everyone drives an early 200x model GM vehicle. I'm personally not really a fan of a lot of the wire acrobatics that the Matrix and other films brought mainstream, and then there's the superman-like stuff which just doesn't even seem to fit the movie either. Don't even mention the rave scene...

The original Matrix and Pirates of the Caribbean are two movies that really should not have had sequels in my opinion. I would even go so far as to say the sequels actually hurt the originals, as I don't like them as much as when they did not have sequels. If they had just left it with the original Matrix, I think I would still like it but I've kinda been soured on the whole now. Oddly, even though I don't like anime much, I did like the Animatrix though.

After watching the movies on HD DVD, I'd rank the best scenes like this:

1. Lobby Scene (I)
2. Final Battle in the Rain (III)
3. Car Chase on Freeway (II)
4. Burly Brawl (II)
5. Subway Fight (I)

Yeah, I think they depended too much on the fast-action scenes to cover up the play-dough looking face. I still think it's an awesome scene.

How can you leave out the fight with the weapons in the second movie? Definitely one of my favorites.

The best scene in Matrix 2 has to be Persephone in her translucent dress...
