I don't get it... why isn't an iPhone available on Straight Talk?

I noticed that some of the other cell phone manufacturers like LG and Samsung are offering some higher end Smartphones now like the Galaxy S2 or Optimus, so I'm surprised that Apple doesn't offer a comparable iPhone 4 or 4S for around $400.

As mentioned above, you buy an ATT or unlocked iPhone and use it. There is no subsidy and no reason for ST to carry the iPhone if people can buy it from the Apple store themselves.

Other prepaid providers like Cricket and Virgin Mobile are not GSM/no SIM and the phones will only work on their networks, so they have carrier specific models and carry the iPhone themselves.

Straight Talk 3G works well; it's as fast as AT&T post-paid in most cases. The new iPhone supports 3G as well as LTE. Straight Talk has no LTE coverage available at this time.
